| What We Do
FreshStart assists those "graduating" from recovery houses/treatment programs and correctional facilities
1. by relieving poverty through the provision of food, furnishings and furniture as adult clients re-establish their own homes in the urban regions of Vancouver and the Fraser Valley.
2. by providing adults in the Vancouver and Fraser Valley communities with 90 days of life skills group support to prevent relapse and recidivism .
The FreshStart Post Treatment Support Program will admit a new group of 12 to 15 persons each month. Each group will meet twice weekly for the first month while clients are seeking employment. Then each group will meet one time each week for the following two months while the clients are (hopefully) employed. The program includes an intake interview and 17 group sessions, plus follow-up consultations as needed. We can run three staggered admission groups simultaneously. Each of our groups are led by two certified Life Skills Coaches. This program is portable to any locale in the Vancouver Regional District . However FreshStart is seeking a permanent location in North Surrey.
The FreshStart Post Treatment Support Program has been used for the past ten years in a recovery house with success. This success is attested by articles in the Tri Cities Newspaper, client evaluations, and unsolicited letters of appreciation from former clients.
Our short term goal is to provide an Employment Program to compliment the Post Treatment Support Program. Our long term goal is to operate a Christian based multi-faceted recovery center in
Surrey.
What is FreshStart
FreshStart Ministries Society is a non-profit society and a charitable organization that was registered in July 2006. Although not affiliated with any other organization, FreshStart follows the best service practices and code of ethics of the Associated Rescue Gospel Missions and the Canadian Council of Christian Charities.
FreshStart Ministries Society is located in Surrey and led by a 9 member board of directors. Our board has several directors who have decades of experience in leading recovery services for other organizations. It is out of this experience that FreshStart was created to provide a recovery service seldom available to clients leaving recovery or correctional facilities. We believe that post treatment support is essential to assure that client’s efforts and the community’s financial support are not lost due to relapse and recidivism. FreshStart Ministries Society is a Christian oriented organization that seeks voting members from all communions. Non- voting members are also welcome to participate in the Society. |
